(North County Beat) – A young man was fatally stabbed Tuesday evening near the Palm Avenue Trolley station in San Diego’s Palm City neighborhood.
Authorities were alerted to the incident at approximately 5:50 p.m., leading Southern Division officers to the scene at the 600 block of Hollister Street. There, they discovered a man at the MTS Blue Line station suffering from at least one stab wound, according to SDPD Lt. Jud Campbell.
First responders, including paramedics and officers, initiated lifesaving measures before transporting the victim to a nearby hospital. Despite their efforts, he was pronounced dead shortly after arriving at the medical facility.
The victim’s identity remains unknown, but he has been described as a young man, potentially a teenager or young adult. Preliminary investigations suggest that a physical altercation involving a small group of men began on the west sidewalk of 600 Hollister Street. The fight then moved to a nearby parking lot, where the victim was reportedly stabbed. He subsequently ran across the street to the Trolley station, where he was found.
The suspect, described as a man with a youthful appearance, was seen fleeing the scene in a small, dark-colored vehicle that headed southbound on Hollister Street. No additional details about the suspect are available at this time.
The investigation is ongoing, with SDPD detectives actively working to gather surveillance footage and interview witnesses in the area.
