Date:

(North County Beat) – A 20-year-old active duty Marine lost his life in a collision involving his motorcycle and a vehicle near an Oceanside gas station.

The Oceanside Police Department (OPD) confirmed the fatal accident, which took place around 7:51 p.m. at the intersection of Douglas Drive and North River Road.

According to OPD Sgt. Clint Bussey, the collision occurred when a white Volkswagen Passat made a left turn from northbound Douglas Drive into the AMPM gas station.

At that moment, a motorcyclist riding a black Indian Scout was traveling southbound on Douglas Drive and collided with the Volkswagen’s right front fender.

The OPD’s Major Accident Investigation Team was promptly dispatched to conduct a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the tragic collision.

Authorities urged anyone who might have witnessed the accident or had pertinent information to come forward and assist in the investigation. Those with information were encouraged to contact OPD Officer Kevin Lissner at 760-435-4651.
