(North County Beat) – SusieCakes, a well-loved Los Angeles-based bakery, has expanded its reach within Carlsbad by opening a new location at The Forum Carlsbad on August 24. This marks the bakery’s second storefront in the area, offering customers another venue to enjoy their famous cupcakes and classic layer cakes. The new SusieCakes shop is located at 1935 Calle Barcelona.
In an official statement, Susan Sarich, the Founder and CEO of SusieCakes, expressed her enthusiasm about the expansion. “We are thrilled to open our newest location at The Forum Carlsbad, a vibrant hub for shopping, dining, and community gatherings throughout the year,” Sarich stated. “This location is a perfect fit for our bakery, and I’m excited to bring our delicious custom cakes, cupcakes, and other treats to this beautiful space. We love the Carlsbad community and are eager to provide our loyal guests with the convenience of picking up their favorite treats while enjoying all that The Forum Carlsbad has to offer.”
SusieCakes was founded by Sarich in 2006 in the Brentwood neighborhood of Los Angeles. The bakery’s concept is rooted in Sarich’s childhood memories of baking alongside her grandmothers, Mildred and Madeline, which inspired the nostalgic, home-baked quality that the brand is known for today.
The grand opening event for the new location was held on Saturday, featuring an array of festivities from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. Visitors enjoyed samples of SusieCakes’ signature baked goods, lively music, and family-friendly entertainment including face painting, a balloon artist, and other activities. In addition, attendees had the opportunity to participate in a raffle for a chance to win a free cake each month for a year. The first 50 guests were also given a SusieCakes-branded coffee mug as a special keepsake.
Beyond its new spot at The Forum Carlsbad, SusieCakes also operates another Carlsbad location at 7610 Via Campanile, Suite 144. The bakery’s presence extends across Southern and Northern California, as well as Texas and Tennessee. The new Carlsbad bakery will be open to customers from Monday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., and on Sundays from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
